Greetings and welcome to Gayman Elementary School and its school website.  You are encouraged to explore our site and discover some of what makes our school such a wonderful place for young people to learn and grow.  The Gayman faculty and staff focus on creating an educational environment where students strive for excellence in place that is positive, safe, and engaging.  The Gayman school community is truly special, and I hope that you have the opportunity to experience what makes it so special for yourself.

First opening its doors to children in 1960 as Plumbstead Elementary School, our school began with fourteen classrooms, an all-purpose room, and a health suite.  At that time, the school was staffed by fifteen faculty members.  Later renamed Gayman Elementary School in 1966, the building has grown through multiple renovations.  It now has over thirty educational spaces and approximately seventy faculty and support staff members.
