School Counselor

Dear Gayman Elementary Students, Parents, Guardians and Staff,

Hello and welcome! My name is Emma Kramer and I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new School Counselor for the first semester of 2025–2026 school year.

I recently graduated in May from Kutztown University with my Master of Science in School Counseling, which is a CACREP‑accredited program that prepares graduates to become certified PreK‑12 school counselors in Pennsylvania. During my graduate program, I completed extensive counseling coursework and field experience, all designed to equip me with the skills to support students’ academic, social-emotional, and career development.

My career in education began as a Teaching Assistant in an Autistic Support classroom. More recently, I gained valuable experience interning as a school counselor with the Pennridge School District, where I further developed my abilities in this role.

What this year will look like:

• Classroom Guidance Lessons
  I will visit each K–6 classroom regularly to deliver developmentally appropriate lessons on themes like respect, responsibility, friendship, and resilience. These sessions are designed to build foundational social-emotional skills and support positive school culture.
• Small Group Counseling
  Small groups may focus on skills such as friendship-building, self-esteem, emotional regulation, or social skills—grouped by similar needs. Referrals for these groups can be made by parents, teachers, staff, or myself.
• Individual Support
  Whether a student needs help navigating a challenge, adjusting to school transitions, or building coping strategies, I am here for confidential one-on-one support.
• Collaboration and Outreach
  I look forward to working alongside teachers, specialists, and parents to ensure every student’s needs are met, including those requiring accommodations or individual support plans.
• Open Communication
  My door (and inbox) is always open. I encourage students, families, and staff to reach out whenever there are questions, concerns, or simply to say hello and get to know one another.
